All State OrchestraGeorgia All-State is a special event held over 3 day period in Athens each year. The event allows high caliber students from all over the state to work together with nationally renowned conductors. Students must undergo two separate auditions and will be selected on performance merit based on musical knowledge, technique, and musicality.

Govenor's Honors ProgramThe Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors during the program. GHP os held in mid-summer as a residential educational experience on a college or university campus. Students attend classes in the mornings and afternoons in specific areas of study, and they participate in a wide variety of social and instructional opportunities every evening.

Honor OrchestraHonor Orchestra provides students within District 3 an opportunity to work with excellent guest clinicians and perform music that challenges their abilities. Auditions are held to determine seating.

Large Group Performance Evaluation is an evaluation process for musical performance and sight-reading abilities. Orchestras are evaluated by a group of highly qualified judges on seven elements including: tone quality, intonation, technique, balance, interpretation, musical effect, and general effect. They will receive comments and suggestions for continued growth and improvement.

Solo and Ensemble FestivalSolo and Ensemble Festival allows to students to perform in different settings than experienced in the classroom. They have the opportunity to perform chamber music in a small ensemble setting or work with an accompanist and perform a solo. Participants receive feedback from a guest judge. They are also given a rating similar to LGPE.

Tri-M is a program of the National Association for Music Education, which is the largest arts education association in the world. It highlights your school’s music program and gives students the opportunity to perform, lead, and serve. It recognizes exceptional music students in grades 6–12 that meet the specific music, academic, leadership, and character criteria.
